GPCI is a TEA Designated P-Tech Academy

GPCI is a TEA Designated T-STEM Academy

Grand Prairie Collegiate Institute is in its "Planning Phase" of establishing its P-Tech Academy. Pathways in Technology Schools (P-TECH) are innovative high schools that allow students the opportunity to complete a course of study that combines high school and post-secondary courses. Our transition to the P-Tech Model has been designated by the Texas Education Agency (TEA), as a school within a school, in which we meet the qualifications and standards of the TEA P-Tech Blueprint. GPCI's P-Tech program will enable students to:

  • Allow students to gain work experience through an internship or other job training program
  • Earn a high school diploma, along with a Level 1 or Level 2 certificate, or industry-based certification.
  • Offer work-based learning opportunities
  • Align to regional workforce needs, guiding students into high-demand, high-wage careers
  • Partner with Texas Institutions of Higher Education (IHEs) and regional businesses and industries, giving students access to post-secondary education and workforce training opportunities
