Academics
In this camp, you'll learn the skills of a coder and the mindset of an entrepreneur by building apps. This isn't just a drill — you will build an app! Last year's camp launched an app idea that is currently available worldwide on the Apple App Store. Students will need their district-issued iPad and a strong desire to delve deep into learning this in-demand skill.

Primates and cacti and fish, oh my! Bring the relationship between animals and plants to life as you engineer a circuit bug and design a unique axolotl habitat. Assessment
This program provides current GPISD high school students who failed state EOC exams in English I, English II, algebra I, biology, and/or U.S. history with the opportunity to retake those exams.

Athletics
Registration for all athletic camps will occur on-site, the first day of camp unless denoted otherwise in the camp description.
For all incoming freshmen and returning players: meet with the coaching staff for conditioning, instructional skills, and soccer field time. All participants will need to have a physical examination and complete all UIL online forms through Rank One.

This is an opportunity to be coached by our coaching staff and former players in establishing a softball foundation through skills and drills. GPHS cross-country practice will be held on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday, starting on June 17th, from 7:30 a.m. to 9:00 a.m., continuing through the end of July. There will be no practice during the week of the 4th of July. The purpose of practice is to prepare our male and female athletes for cross-country meets for the 2024-25 school year, with morning runs ranging between 1 to 3 miles.
Athletes will meet either at Turner Gym, SAC (Student Activity Center) or Soccer locker room and will be notified by the Head Coach of the meeting place.

Baseball Camp: Learn fundamental baseball skills through drills and skill development. The camp is open to all students entering 6th through 9th grade. Open gym will be held in J2 Gym (located to the left of the Football Fieldhouse) from 10:00 am to 11:30 am to fine-tune skills or engage in games with other athletes. Summer Success – We will train anyone and everyone who wants to achieve the following:

We will divide participants into older and younger groups. One group will start either in the weight room (SAC) or outside on the football field, focusing on agility drills. Groups will switch halfway through.
After the lifting and conditioning sessions, we will then focus on voluntary football drills led by our senior athletes, overseen by the coaches.
All participants must have a physical examination and complete all UIL Rank One online forms.

The GPHS Volleyball Camp will run from July 28th to July 30th, from 9:00 am to 12 noon, in our new gyms (J1 and J2), located to the left of the football fieldhouse. Campers will focus on skills such as passing, setting, attacking, serving, and blocking.

Counseling and College and Career Readiness
Future Ready NMSQT Scholars Camp is an invitation-only summer program designed for high-achieving 10th-grade students based on their national test performance. This free program provides students with top-tier PSAT preparation through live, virtual classes led by expert Princeton Review instructors. Participants will sharpen their skills and gain essential strategies to excel on the Grade 11 NMSQT/PSAT, opening doors to National Merit recognition and future scholarship opportunities.

GPFAA Dance Phantom camp for incoming GPFAA dance students to get acclimated to a new school and for former students to welcome them and to bond before school starts. Students get to know each other, play games, and take dance technique classes.

High School Credit Recovery
Our Summer Bootcamp aims to provide targeted enrichment for students who have not yet earned all the necessary credits or passed their End-of-Course (EOC) exams required for graduation in May. This program will take a highly focused and strategic approach to ensure students receive the support they need to succeed. Our goal is to equip students with the support and resources needed to earn the necessary credits, pass their exams, and become eligible for graduation in August.

Grand Prairie High School is offering summer school credit recovery to help students stay on track to graduate on time. GPHS will also offer virtual credit recovery or original credit courses for those who have met specific grade qualifications. Email communication will go out in late May with an invitation to register if your student qualifies for credit recovery.

The purpose of our summer success academy is twofold. One portion of SSA is to provide targeted intervention for students who have not passed an EOC. They will take part in content-specific Bootcamps that will ready them to retesting. The second portion of SSA will be to provide an opportunity for students to recover credits to put them back on track for graduation through the Edgenuity program.

Special Education
ECC (Expanded Core Curriculum) Camp will provide opportunities for students with visual impairments to interact and build independent living, social, self-advocacy, and leadership skills alongside other students with visual impairments who are close in age. Participants must meet eligibility criteria as a student with a visual impairment (VI) as well as camp criteria.

Summer Bridge
We are excited to invite our rising 6th and 9th graders to CAV Camp, a special opportunity to kickstart their next school year with team-building and preparation activities!
- Morning: Students will travel to Group Dynamics for engaging team-building activities to strengthen collaboration and leadership skills.
- Afternoon: Students will participate in Nuts & Bolts sessions, designed to help them prepare for the upcoming school year.
This camp is the perfect way for students to connect with peers, build confidence, and gain essential insights for a successful transition. More details, including transportation and what to bring, will be shared soon.
